Title

Directional flow of electron/spin excited by photon

Abstract

Materials with broken symmetry support intrinsic directional flow of elementary particles and excitations. Some of their dynamics can be readily excited and detected by optical means. In this talk, I will discuss several optical studies on the directional flow of electrons and spins in correlated materials, including ultrafast shift current in materials with Berry’s phase, photogalvanic effects with strong spin-orbit interactions, and non-reciprocal spin-wave propagation with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions. These experimental observations may lead to novel optoelectronic and spintronic applications.
