Title

Polymer Chemistry in Nanospaces

Abstract

Designing nano-sized pores with a regular arrangement of reactive/interactive/responsive entities offers the possibility of advanced polymer production and properties that cannot be accomplished by conventional methods1. We have developed ordered nanopores of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as structural scaffolds, guiding polymerization and depolymerization with spatial precision and enabling control over macromolecular structures and arrangement2. We also discovered direct insertion phenomenon of polymers into the regular nanochannels, which enables powerful macromolecular separation, purification, and recycling technologies with exceptionally high selectivity and effciency3. Synergistic coupling of reticular chemistry with polymer engineering opens new avenues for the design of next-generation functional materials4. The rapid progress in this field has led to breakthroughs in both fundamental science and materials applications, promoting investigations to expand their potential in creating advanced materials and realizing chemical circulation systems.
