Title

Materials science with lasers and photoelectrons

Abstract

Recent progress of laser technology enables us a variety of new probes for materials science. Among them, we have been working on the combination of lasers with electron beam probes, as represented by laser photoelectron spectroscopy, ultrafast electron diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy. By utilizing these laser-based probes, the information of electronic, lattice, and/or magnetic structures can be resolved into energy, momentum, space, and time. In this colloquium, I will briefly explain the basic schemes of these measurements, and present our recent activities related to novel superconductors and topological compounds.
